I thought as so many changes and updates are being made to tunes, liveries, and strategies at the moment, it would be good to have a little pre-race discussion going so we can all chat about it!

So what have you done to help you stand out? To help you try and win the Le Mans [Not Quite] 24 Hours?

Personally I want to say that I have been a fool!! On Forza 2 in the Risi Ferrari the revs went up to 10,000rpm but the powerband was different, and to keep in the maximum power range you had to keep in about 7,500 to 8,500 rpm. And on Forza 3 the power band is obviously the same, so I have been changing gear in this range...

However, yesturday I tried maxing the revs out and this has made the car soooo much more responsive!! It turns in as soon as I want and just feels so much more lively! It will take me a little bit of time to adjust to it, however I think it will definitely be quicker. I was matching my pace at Le Mans after just a few laps, and thats only with a temporary solution to the new gear ratios. I loose about 2 mph down the straight, however in almost every corner I gain about 5 mph apex speed!!

For Le Mans the aim has to be a class victory, something that has been hard to come by for myself this season. The team has had a big shuffle around with TCR Bamalot leaving with Thanatos to add the additional Ferrari challenge from Patron. Which leaves myself as the main championship protagonist from Risi, despite being a somewhat long way off Polaris

However, what with my recent breakthroughs in terms of medium and high speed front end grip, along with the new more dynamic 2008 chassis, and the new gear solutions, I am quitely confident I can take the fight to them through the second half of this season. Hopefully a late, resurgeant Risi team can be the "dark horse" in the title race ;) (Excuse the pun! :P )

Hmm... Well, after winning three of the first four races (and a podium finish at the other), the team is on a bit of a high. However, if testing is anything to go by, Le Mans isn't going to be so straightforward. Both the #80 and the #45 GT3 RSRs lack the necessary straight line speed in order to be competing at the very front. Therefore, targets for the upcoming race have to be realistic. A Lobby 1 slot would be the main aim for at least one of the three drivers, in order to prevent a Ferrari lockout. My own personal aim is to beat my closest championship rival, TCR Bamalot, in order to minimise points lost in the championship.

The cars themselves have had a bit of a facelift (even since that thread I posted), with new liveries for myself, TCR Lex and MMA Voltron. They are based on the 2010 Sebring liveries and therefore have all the latest sponsors and number boxes.

All in all, Le Mans won't be fun. However, later tracks are much more suited to the Porsche and this is where we'll be looking to be taking more wins and podiums away from those irritating Prancing Horses.

On the LMP side,

I've got a great set up that can get me 216mph down the straights. The handling isn't half bad but since it's my first race I'll probably lose concentration and spin off in that dodgy fast corner section towards the end of the lap.

You are driving the Jaguar aren't you? If so that means that you will find it difficult at Le Mans, because the Jaguar struggles in a straight line, however, you will be really strong at the more twisty tracks approaching in the future.

I agree, the Jaguar handles really well !

On my Falken Porsche side we'll have to battle the Michelin shod P-cars (..... :P ) and the dark prancing horses so it won't be a vacation out there. I still have to force myself into wider and wider corner entries to have the highest momentum possible going down the straights. My 4:00.00 laps won't make it in this field it looks like....I have to forget what I "should" do on this track and do what I "have to" do !!! :)

I know exactly what you mean mate!! There are bumps we shouldn't be hitting in real life! But in the game in order to keep competitive we just have to hit them!
Ok! Ingenious solution comming up: As I pointed towards earlier when I change gears can cost me 2mph on the straights, but gain me time in the corners, so I have come up with a great solution:

I only use 5 gears at Le Mans, So 6th gear can be slightly longer, thus giving me the ability to decide on using extra top end speed if need be, almost like I have active aero!! I can now hit maximum speed on the straights, or I can choose to optimise my apex speeds! This can be done on a lap by lap basis and all in the same race without quitting out to alter my setup at all!

Genious! Even if I do say so myself ^_^ I'm happy about that lol :P

Don't worry, I am only giving it away because the Ferrari is the only car it works on ;)

I already checked this and I need the other Ferrari's to be quick so I can hopefully take a chunk out of a certain Porsche drivers massive championship lead :P

but shhhh! Don't let him know :ermm:

This should all be very interesting.

Can i claim the biggest change between the last race and Le Mans? Not only have i left my Felbermayr Porsche and got into a Compuware Corvette, i'm the only driver (as far as i know) to be using an R2 car...

Unfortunately, thanks to Jam's restrictions on my Corvette, my top speed is only around 180 max, which is still less than everyone else in what should, in my completely unbiased opinion, be the fastest GT2 car in a straight line...

I'm now struggling to tune the car by myself, rather than relying on Jonny's Porsche tunes, so i'll see what happens :D
