In the LMP class The Jester Race took a fantastic maiden win in a more gritty, rough race. The Jester Race took pole position and regained a lead he had lost early on when the leader had lag troubles. Here is what he had to say afterwards: 1. Firstly, how does it feel to win for the first time, and to do it at the biggest race of the year, Le Mans? Feels great to take a win, obviously this is the one everyone wants to win and considering Venom's dominance so far this year I couldn't be happier. It was a shame that a few others had connection issues and only me and mikelikebagette started in lobby 1, but I've had those issues before so I'm not getting too down about it. I got a very good start, got through the Dunlop chicane and the Forest Esses with no problems only to watch Mike close in on me on the Mulsanne, we went side by side into the first chicane the he just disappeared, My top speed was about 15 km/h slower than I had been in qualifying so it was obvious I'd put the wrong set-up on the car. The car felt ok but was very slow. 2. Your season hasn't always been this smooth so far, how would you rate the first half? Mostly very frustrating. The second place in Spain was probably one of the only high points up until now (even though there was massive lag issues there as well). I missed both Sebring and Mugello with lobby connection issues and have generally struggled with car set-up as well as a few basic driving errors, but hopefully this will be the turning point. 3. After this strong performance what do you think the rest of the season holds for yourself? Hopefully more lobby 1 positions and podiums! I still think I've got a lot to learn about car set-up, every race I find a few new things that make the car a little easier to drive without making too many changes and getting lost. 4. It must have been a relief when mikelikebagette had his incident, were you ever concerned about lag issues? Well, if I'm honest, I was disappointed for Mike, He was driving really well. But the same thing happened to me at Catalunya so I know how he feels. After that happened, and was leading, obviously I was very careful coming past the GT2 cars, I wasn't sure what would happen if I came up past Mike again so I backed right off to make sure I didn't come up to lap him and just cruised to the end. All in all a very god race weekend, pole position and the win. I couldn't be happier! In the GT2 class VxR Jammy translated a dominant pole position into a victory ahead of his ex-team-mate, also his first win of the season, but his 5th overall including previous wins. Here are his thoughts: 1. You could have been considered the favourite for this race given testing performance, did you feel any pressure? Um, no, not really. I haven't been in a position to grab a race by the horns as I like to recently, so i suppose it was a bit of a relief to finally be in such a position. If anything I thrive under pressure anyway, I sort of found that out in seasons a fair while ago, perhaps I could use me. In the race itself there were a few moments that I thought 'oh sugar, this could be me out!' But I pulled though, so um, I guess I felt the pressure then! 2. The race could have been smoother for yourself, outline what exactly happened. Basically I got a decent start from pole, but I was struggling a little bit, just to get into my rythm, and I suppose focus and get going. So I started getting grief from TCR Bamalot, by the end of the first stint I was just about back in the rythm and ready for a push to get past him but he crashed and let me through, so no worries. I built up a lead but then had a scare when I forgot to pit, I realised half way down the mulsanne, slammed it into 6th, then just lifted right off, missed the second chicane and had to cruise the 5 or so miles back to the pits... It was agonising, I had to watch as Bam flew past, it probably lost me about a minute, but from then onwards I had to fly, so I went flat out and, um, I won, by a large amount... 3. Can you carry this form onwards though the rest of the season? Um, I hope so? There are some good, and some bad tracks for my Hayley so we will see how it goes... 4. There have been rumours that you are unhappy in the Ferrari camp? Um, that, I guess is true. Not with the team, but I guess I am a little disappointed and don't feel that sme people are getting the most out of the car. If we want to take it to the Porsches, we need to be taking more points off them at races like Le Mans. And some people haven't lead our challenge well. Um, it's a sensitive issue, and needs going over really... It feels good to win again though
