Now i'm sure that you have heard of the terrible disaster that has struck Japan and other pacific islands today. I believe that Captain Obvious is out in Japan so i hope that he is okay and my thoughts go out to all affected by such a disastrous event

Not sure what it is or if it's dangerous but I've only done it once and I thought Sesame Street was downstairs.

it ended up being pretty small here, but a lot of boat and harbor damage. i havent been able to reach anyone in japan yet. they got killed over there. 4 million without power. that is crazy.

Hey all. Just checking in. That was an effing wild ride. My wife and I were watching the Charlie Sheen Star Wars Mash Up on Youtube and I felt a light shaking. At first I didn't think much about it as we had that 7.3 the other day and have been getting some aftershocks (35 total from that one) from it, but I got up and was going to get some water and that is when I heard the rumble of it coming. I told my wife to grab the cat that was in her lap and get down. Almost instantly it got about 2 times worse for about ten seconds, then 3 times worse, then 5. It shook the poo-poo out of my house for about 2 minutes. I am 4 miles for the shoreline and 120 feet above sea level. The size of the tsunami at Hachinohe port was 6 meters so the elevation helped. I am 208 miles (336KM) North Northwest of Sendai, but it was still rough. Don't believe what you are hearing on the news about the aftershocks. It is far worse than they are reporting. According to USGS since the 8.9 quake we have had 233 aftershocks that register above a 4.5 magnatude and a total of 266 earthquakes this week. I got power, internet, cellphone, and 3G back about 6 hours ago but I have been at work.

All is good now. My military base and getting back 100% capability and we are waiting on word from higher headquarters if we are doing the humanitarian mission for Operation Tomodaichi (Operation Friend). Once we are fully restored we are going to be the prime spot for receiving heavy lift aircraft like C5, C17, 747 and use the JASDF's (Japan Self Defense Force) CH-47 Chinooks to move stuff down. If they ask for volunteers to go to Sendai or surrounding areas I am trying to be on the first transport out of here. I will talk to you guys later. My mom is calling on Skype.

Check out this picture. It is the USGS page and will update everytime there is a new quake and the page is refreshed. I am located near the "i" in Aomori. The bigger the square the bigger the quake. Red squares mean it took place in the past hour. Blue squares mean it has happend in the past 24 hours. Yellow squares mean it happend more than 24 hours ago but less than one week.

Good to hear your in one piece Captain, I'd hate to see another P2 driver out, albeit for different reasons. Seriously though, hope all is well, and for everyone in Japan.

I am not sure if I will be able to participate in upcoming races. My wife is telling me that there isn't enough power to go around and they might start rolling blackouts/brownouts every 3 hours. Also we are almost up to 300 aftershocks.

That's perfectly understandable. There are clearly more important issues than Forza racing right now.
