Why'd they get rid of Sidewinder?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!! I loved that track. Layout F was my personal test track. And New York? Another good track. And why did they get rid of Positano? That track took a lot of development time for Forza 3, and they throw it away. As stated earlier, the more I hear, the less I want.

The tracks you guys mentioned that they are releasing are infineon and indy. Spa will not be in the game at release. Maybe a DLC, but unlikely with the ALMS sponsorship. Possibly Mid-Ohio or something.

Really hate to see New York go.

Lets face it though no one used Rally, Sidewinders, or Bugatti. You can say you really liked it, but it's simply not going to be missed with the 4 new tracks we've recieved.

I just think people were expecting way to much out of a game that alreadys spoils us with the amount of content it provides. You also have to remember that their aim is not full on simulation.

I also don't understand the whole uproar on the repairs on pit road. Yes obviously you can't make those repairs that fast, but would you really want to run an entire 3 hour race with 25% engine damage?

Thank god they don't go ahead and repair the aero then there wouldn't be ANY penalty for making a mistake or wrecking someone.

You need to be able to repair aero, it's terrible to go through a 3.5hr race with a nagging 10% aero that throws off the entire balance of the car.

You could make it wear the amount of time spent in the pits is proportional to the amount of damage. This was done in a nascar game I bought in 2002, why cant they do it in 2012?

Aero cannot be completely repaired back to it's original state though unless the entire bumper is removed, and on most cars it's not.

A hammer and some bondo tape isn't going to restore the aerodynamics of that car by much especially if the frame itself were bent.

Is it poo-poo that they can replace an entire engine and suspension in 5 seconds sure, but if you wanted to run full simulation then you would just be done and pretty much retired from a race with any engine or severe suspension damage. You think it's fun running for 3.5 hours with 10% aero? How about they take 5 minutes to fix the aero and you are left with 5% on the car.

There has to be some kind of damage left after a pitstop. Be glad they chose to to fix your engine and not the aero instead. I can't imagine running around 3 hours with 20% engine damage. I'd much rather live with aero damage.

it was in the original forza. not aero, but fuel vs tire, even the amount of fuel. the penalty for poor driving would be the time in the pits just like real life. they can replace a nose on lmps, why not in the game. at least "helicopter" tape. to get you back to 80% aero, or something.

The penatly should be that you have to sit in your box on pit lane for 10 mins while the damage is repaired. Aero included.

I'd much rather that than mong around with 100% aero damage bouncing off walls because the car won't turn.

Are you serious? Positano is where I test/play with EVERY. SINGLE. car that I have or like. Positano is the place I spend the most time. An Alps track will not replace it, Positano is technical, requires skill, balls and precision to nail it.
Bugatti is another track I will miss like hell, it is a track where I can give plenty of faster drivers one hell of a scare. I can run Bugatti quicker than many of the Rolex series drivers who were much quicker than myself everywhere else. Bugatti was a rhythm track, something lacking from many other racing games.

Oh and you can easily replace a front bumper/splitter, rear wing, rear bumper and even undertrays, thus fixing much aero damage. Just watch videos of V8 Supercars of the Corvette Team at Le Mans. Come on man, bodywork causes most aero issues and bodywork is easily replaced. On cars such as the GT3-RSR the bodywork is plastic and will easily flex to fit over a fair bit of frametwist, I know, I've seen it up close. Obviously you don't watch enough racing to not realise how easy it is to fix aero issues. Suspension fixes are pretty easy too in many cases, especially in enduro racing.

As a simulation game, the aero fix should be included, but a penalty should be involved.

Hey Jestah, avoid GT cars and you don't have to mong around XD

Which reminds me, somewhat off-topic but we have to get the frontpage race recaps more accurate! The Maple Valley one said Tactic had a trouble-free race, rather forgetting the fact that he slammed into the back of the second placed GT car in the lobby which destroyed all the aero (which on a track like Maple Valley really needs to be fixable!), and got engine damage on the warmup lap.

This game will still be hands down the best game of 2011. The tyre model will improve physics, and hopefully make things interesting, especially in the FLMS where it may suit more drivers than others.

I mean we have the top gear track, an ALMS partnership, new tracks which imo are better than the ones replaced, there are far more new and better things than downsides. I mean at the end of the day people are expecting too much, no one is going to make the perfect game as there would be no reason to make a successor no?

I don't really think wanting to at least see all the content from a previous game returning for a new game is expecting too much. Porsche was in FM3. It's not in FM4. Same with NY, Sidewinder, Bugatti, Positano etc.

That's a step backwards. There's no escaping that, no matter which way you try and spin it.

But then again we have new tracks like the one in America (Infeon I think it's called?), we have a new career mode where the AI get harder and harder until we struggle to beat them which would be good, 16 online multiplayer, track day events where you can overtake an infinite number of cars, tyre model so new and improved physics. Yeah the only massive massive downside is Porsche dropping out but this is only my opinion.

The career is mind numbingly dull. I have finished less than 10% of FM3 career. So "improved" AI is totally irrelevant.

I am a bit excited about the pirelli tyre model though. I'm going to go and look at some videos of it.

I still doubt that they would XD

But yeah they auto upgrade there cars and upgrades, difficulty levels, anything. I watched a video of the AI on youtube and they have better perception, meaning they see a slower car ahead far more quickly. Like the AI recognise very fast closing speeds so hopefully they won't smash into me in career races anymore.

I also agree with you polaris, the career was dumb on FM3 but I think I would actually play it on FM4, they've cut the duration of races so there's more passing and things, got alot more game mods so hopefully there will always be something new to find. I want to play online with this game though, 16 player online! :woot:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74xZHnCZlS0&feature=relmfu This video goes through these things in much more detail, James with your real life comparisons you're doing you might find this useful...
