Pretty decent for those 3-1/2 hour races ! :D

Now the PC setup, so low to the floor it's almost like driving a Formula Ford !

Now if you could only listen to a lap with a Porsche 906 or a Carrera RSR with the loud volume and throttle blips on downshifts..... :ermm:
One day when I get a couple of you on Live I'll make you listen to that through the XBox mic, better than nothing ! :P

That's the Microsoft wheel in the 360 pics, isn't it?

Is it any good? Just 'cos it's £50 in some places here, rather than £400 for the fanatec setup...

With the MS wheel you can match controller lap times for sure, but I'm not sure if it will give you any extra time...

Sometime this summer when there is nobody home I will properly try it out, especially as I have a tune that should be perfect for it :P

Yes that's the MS wheel. It's not too bad, but not top quality....I got it used for about $90 at the end of 2009 and didn't like it at first. After 4 months of playing FM3 an experienced guy I race against convinced me to use it because he said me using the controller was an advantage over him (!!!) and I did it. It took 2-3 months just to get the same lap times I was doing with the controller ! I think an expensive, quality wheel is faster than the controller but the MS wheel is probably not....I would say once used to it it's about the same as the controller but at least it's more realistic than pushing buttons ! ;)

P.S. With the G27 in the PC games I can do "power shifts", which is an advantage over conventional shifting. It means not lifting when changing gears but it has to be made very fast in order to not over-rev the engine !

I don't know if you ever did it in a real car but what the controller does is not exactly the same....When you hold the accelerator and shifts with the controller it cuts the engine for milliseconds. True this is hardly noticeable....

The power shift means you hold the accelerator to the floor and as fast as humanly possible you slam and release the clutch pedal, resulting in a small acceleration surge because the engines gets to rev higher for a fraction of a second.....Now in a video game I have no means of proving if it is faster or not than the controller shift !

The point is, it is not the same thing going on ! ;)

I don't, hitting the limiter just kills me inside!

You gain time through the process of not lifting... I would imagine it would be technically quicker to match the revs with the clutches release, but it wouldn't be humanly possible to do it quick enough and with 100% accuracy...

Edit-Born, do it!

Nah its fine, we don't even hit the limiter if we do it right. We have sequential boxes so we don't have to lift on upshifts...
