Looks like even the 24 hours of Le Mans is kind of struggling abit. I never remember this many withdrawls in recent years. This is crazy. Was hoping to see the new strakka car but not anymore! :(

Wouldn't say Le Mans is struggling...

The Strakka Dome got wrote off in what was apparently a massive accident at eau rouge whilst they were testing at Spa with Toyota.

Its a record number of withdrawls. Where they had to go and ask a team that already withdrew to race again. Usually its a waiting list.

Krohn didn't withdraw. Krohn lost its spot because they tried to enter a Risi car with Risi drivers. However the ACO saw through it and pushed them down the entry list (As they were basically sub-letting their entry). Krohn then thought they had no chance of making the race (As they were pushed to last on the reserve list) so withdrew. :)

However Mr Krohn made it known that he'd be up for racing if a spot did open up.

Also A.F. Corse had let the ACO know that they had several cars ready to go if more teams pulled out, So we were always going to get a full grid at Le Mans. :)


Also in terms of teams withdrawn... SRT and Millennium were financial (With one Millennium car returning), Lotus was... Well Lotus lol, Strakka crashed their car, And the three Astons that pulled out always had question marks over them.

Would rather have another Ferrari on the grid over an empty garage and one less car racing. :)

At the end of the day its the easiest GT spec car to drive (From what I've been told by several gentlemen drivers), And A.F. Corse run the best customer GT program in the world. Hence why so many pay drivers pick to race a Ferrari over a Porsche or Aston. :)

Porsche seems like it would be really against running customer programs, even if teams had money. They have the 2 factory teams, and then the Falken car.

Canadian I don't think Porsche have many of the new 911's built, However there's more than just Falken when it comes to customer teams as you've got the Proton car in WEC, With said team also running a second car at Le Mans for Dempsey and co. So overall that's 7 2014 GTE Porsche 991 911's.

How did anything get opinionated Silenzze? Its common knowledge that AF Corse run the best customer car program in the world when it comes to GT racing. There's pretty much an AF Corse car in every decent GT series in the world, With them running 10+ cars alone in ELMS. They also run the SMP Racing Oreca's in WEC.

Running one for the full season in WEC, And running a second at Le Mans for Dempsey.

However IMSA Matmut and ProSpeed Perfromance are both running two of the older GT3-RSR's at Le Mans. :)

Rumors circulating via RadioLeMans that an American Manufacturer is set to announce a LMP1 program at the Le Mans test this weekend.

Ford with their EcoBoost technology perhaps?

Don't care who it is to be honest, Any new LMP1 team is good in my books. Although if it is Ford, It may well stir the old girl from Italy into returning to reignite the epic battles of the 60's! :D

Honda i think is hoping to go the P2 direction. They have the new coupe coming out next year.

That's Honda USA or HPD as we know it. Honda itself as a manufacturer have been looking at P1 since the new regs were announced, Alongside Mclaren who have also expressed interest in returning to Le Mans. There's alot of weight behind the rumours, However nothing will happen until the P1 regs update in 2017.

Manufacturer's are taking notice of WEC's attempt to make Lmp1 relevant to the technology that they are currently developing for their road cars. We could see P1 returning to the golden age of group C in terms of manufacturers on the grid within the next 3-4 years.

Wouldn't surprise me if Tusc went back to P1 in a few years.

Maybe. P1 has always struggled over here in North America. Audi dominated. Dyson was there racing against themselves lol. Few more here and there but no serious commitments.
